So here we go into the 31st season of The City Gent as we celebrate 30 years of continuous publication and thus making The City Gent the longest running football fanzine in the UK. Following consolidation in League One during the 2013/14 season, it is a fair bet that there will be more of the same from the Bantams during 2014/15. Player budget cuts have made manager Phil Parkinson’s job that much harder, and sadly a few more of the “We Made History” team of 2012/13 left the club during the summer. Will the replacements of Gary Liddle, Alan Sheehan (both from Notts County), Billy Clarke (Crawley), Filipe Morais (Stevenage), Billy Knott and Jordan Pickford (both Sunderland, though Pickford is on a season long loan) help propel the Bantams towards challenging for the play-offs? Only time will tell. What is never in doubt, is that following Bradford City is always interesting and never dull, which, for writers of The City Gent is always good as there is always something to comment on.

The City Gent whilst being the voice of Bantam Progressivism is hopeful about the team's prospects in League One and whilst we're not expecting the drama of the kind that we saw during 2012/13, that really was a once in a lifetime season. As always the contents of each and every issue of The City Gent will reflect on what is happening both on and off the pitch at Valley Parade as The City Gent continues to be the oldest surviving football fanzine in the country.

Issue 186
And so we reach the final issue of a remarkable season which may yet still have a happy ending. CG186 went to print with 3 league games left to play and still with slim hopes of finishing 3rd. Editor Mike Harrison hoped that by writing about this possibility he wasn't putting the mockers on it actually happening, but events from the home defeat to Rotherham means that if Bradford City are to be promoted this season, they'll have to do it the hard way via 2nd trip to Wembley in less than 3 months. Mike also wrote about City's fantastic league record playing on Tuesday nights in the hope of not jinxing the game against the Millers doh! In CG186 the other contributors looks back at what has been a marvellous season so far and one that may still hold a few more surprises. And as the front cover now states, maybe more wins will get City to Wembley again and the Bantams Banter lads will have to do another song!
